Looking Ahead...

Well here we are, another year gone, almost. We survived Christmas and while I may have said that I was ready for it to be over a week ago, that little kid inside of me knew that I would be sad to see it go and he was right.

So, on a side note let me just make a suggestion that if your doctor ever perscribes you Xanax, just drink a few beers, it will give you the same effect but won't be as harsh. Oh and another note a CT scan is not an MRI, don't ever let anyone tell you that a CT scan is stressful and not for the claustrophobic, if they tell you that then they're referring to an MRI. A CT scanner is a big donut, an MRI machine is a huge tube, which is most likely not for the claustrophobic. Thanks for the panic everyone!

Anyway, here we are. I'm not going to reflect on the past year, not because it was a bad one but because I'd rather spend my time looking forward to the new year. But just for nostalgia, I'll quickly touch on some of my personal highlights for 2007-

  1. Acquired a new kid.
  2. Acquired a new house.
  3. Acquired a new bicycle or five
  4. Acquired a new/first tattoo
  5. A bunch of other stuff that I can't think of off the top of my head.

So what's the plan for '08? Body for Life. That's the start. I'm pumped. We begin the Body for Life Challenge January 7th. I plan on changing my poor eating habits for good while losing some padding around the middle and gaining a bit of muscle with some physical strength not to mention mental strength. If you're interested in improving your health, physically or mentally, I invite you to challenge yourself and go for it. Anyone can do it (if you have doubts, check with your doc). The best part is that it's not a fad diet, it's a positive lifestyle change that just about any of us can benefit from. The other best part is that it's free however I would suggest reading Bill Phillips book, "Body for Life" which I picked up at St. Vincent de Paul for $2.50. If you can't afford that or your commitment issues won't allow you to purchase it, let me know and I'd be happy to loan you a copy.

So enough pimping of the Body for Life, the challenge itself will just be the first 12 weeks of '08. What's on tap for the rest of the year other than a lifestyle change? A relaxing summer that does not consist of the stress of selling a house but does include a camping trip or two, hiking, fishing and hopefully numerous other activities; a new tattoo or three maybe; a possible second run of the Butte to Butte depending on if my knees will allow it, build/overhaul a bicycle or two, and numerous "Honey-do's".

Best of luck to you in the new year!

Peace!

Mi casa es su casa...soon

Is it over yet? Can I look? If anyone ever tells you that selling a house and buying a new one is a joyous experience, they're either lying to you or they're not me. So here we are, about 14 months later and I think that we are going to move this week. After four unsuccessful months on the market a five month hiatus, a stint "For Sale by Owner" and four offers later we have finally signed papers on our house and our new house but the way this has gone I won't believe it until I wake up in the new house. Anyway, if you want to know more ask Jenn, I'm going to bed.

I'll miss you, ol' house. You've been the best house a house can be but we've outgrown you...

New Blog!

Well, here we are. More than a year later and an all new blog. The old blog (shkwow-wow.blogspot.com) is on an indefinite hiatus as I am in need of a fresh start to fuel my (for lack of a better term) 'creative genius'. Ya, I know what you're thinking, "That'll take a hell of a lot of fuel. That vehicle probably only runs at 10 miles per gallon on the freeway." You're probably right but I'll do what I can to make this more economically and environmentally friendly. Enough with the metaphor-speak. Actually, that's a lie. I forgot my password and username for the old blog, to top it all off I tied it to a third-party alias e-mail address which I cannot remember the password for either and I refused to name a secondary e-mail address in the set up of that account (story of my life).

So how about a crash course in changes to me in the last year or so, in no particular order-

2 more mouths to feed
New job
Cycling to work now (see 'New Job')
Have bought and replaced 3 bikes this year (see 'Cycling to work now')
Bought and replaced 2 cars this year (don't see 'Cycling to work now')
Trying to sell the house and buy a bigger one for the better part of the last year (see me in a week or two)
Became a born-again coffee drinker and have now nearly reached 'addict' status (see '2 more mouths to feed')
I broke my toe two weeks ago (see '2 more mouths to feed')

I'm sure I'm forgetting something but this is what stands out for now.

That's it for now. So take some time to gather yourself after experiencing this utterly moving and uber-exciting piece of..................................literature.

Until next time, enjoy your Wild America.
